Twins fall hard in series opener against Tigers

Francisco Liriano did not pitch his best, getting pulled after just 4 innings of work. He gave up 10 hits, 4 runs (all earned). FSN North reporter Ron “Coomdog” Coomer says he thinks there is something wrong with Liriano still. EDIT: Francisco Liriano, Minnesota’s rookie All-Star, is out indefinitely with what appears to be a left elbow injury. This comes from the Star Tribune. Read the rest of this entry »

Twins demolish Rangers 15-2

In news not related to yesterday’s game, Kyle Lohse was traded to the Reds, who has a GM that loves bad Twins players. The Reds are the team that accepted a Juan Castro trade earlier in the year. The player we got in return is a pitching prospect named Zach Ward, who has amazing numbers playing for the Dayton Dragons in Class A. 7-0, 2.29 ERA, 114 IP in 18 starts, allowing 74 hits, 29 ER, just TWO homeruns, while walking 37 and striking out 95. Two games in one post

The internet has been extremely bad with the heat wave (the reason for lack of and late posts recently), so this is the second time I’m typing this post as the first one did not save.

I won’t dwell on Saturday night’s loss too much, because there’s a lot to cover with the win today. Brad Radke pitched just 3 innings on Sat., giving up 7 hits and 4 runs. The announcers were talking about how Brad said he isn’t feeling 100% because of his shoulder problem. Well, I hope they can get that fixed because if we make it to the playoffs, and don’t get another good starter by tomorrow afternoon, he’ll have to start at least once per series and he’ll need to be effective.
